Fucking christ, do you know what this would have done? What this would have meant to SO MANY people?? The truth of this is devastating. And to think it almost found it’s way into a DISNEY film??
The inclusion of this scene alone would have made it the greatest animated feature the company ever produced. Easily. And if you think that’s hyperbolic clearly you don’t understand.
No, really, if anyone knows why this was cut PLEASE let me know.
my best guess is that it didn’t focus enough on Lilo and Stitch’s relationship (which is where the theme of the whole story lies), as well as possibly screwing with the pacing of the movie. it’s obvious that this scene was basically replaced with Stitch wrecking havoc on the beach rather than Lilo since they reuse some of the animation from this scene. the reactions of the tourists fit much better with this scene though than the one they were eventually put into. too bad, too. this is a really great scene, and i wish they had kept more of it or put something like it in another part of the film.
