Part 3!  Redid the Iron Man one and added in Hawkeye and Black Widow. Not sure how I feel about those two, I feel like I might be straying too far from the traditional damask patterns here. But I dunno, what do you guys think?
please tell me someone can see the boat I snuck into Clint’s design PLEASE SOMEONE

woooow really loving these!! especially the gun shapes on black widow, though you might want to do something to include her wrist…thingies??? also, i would definitely detach the hourglass from the shapes around it. right now it’s kind of getting lost.
also, iron man is definitely more in the right direction!!

wrapped in His arms.: so am I the only one to notice that Black Widow basically existed in The Avengers for the sole purpose of shooting guns...

wrapped-in-his-arms:

(in which Ella goes on a feminist rant, what else is new?)

I see this character all the time in action movies, and it pisses me off.

yeah, she’s supposed to be “empowered” for being all badass and beating up the guys and stuff, but really, she’s still only there to be looked at. why else…

you know, i kind of agreed with this the first time i saw the movie, but i wasn’t so sure it was the this simple upon 2nd and 3rd viewings (lol is that too many?). i still have issues with that damn catsuit since it’s not super practical and i can’t see it making the stunts she does in the movie any easier for her, but frankly it’s a HUGE step up from the depictions i’ve seen of this character in comic art, with ballooned breasts and where the catsuit is basically painted on. i’d even say that her role is a step up from her depiction in Iron Man 2 (which i only saw once so don’t kill me if i don’t remember everything), where to me she seemed nothing but that “bad-ass, over-powered girl in a slinky suit” trope, not to mention there’s that absolutely hideous leopard print party dress she wears. i really hate leopard print, okay?

but in the avengers we actually start to learn a little about her past. she’s cold and every single thing she does is calculated. what’s more is that her character is reflected in the personality of hawkeye. i mean, i personally feel like their connection was maybe a bit overplayed, but the fact that there was another character sharing her feelings and those traits made them less tropey to me-there was reasoning, there was a background there. she began making the move from stereotype to actual character. and, there’s the fact that she actually did important things, like getting information out of loki and of course closing the whole big portal thing at the end.

i guess what i’m saying is that her role isn’t GREAT but it is better than some other depictions of superhero ladies, especially ladies in superhero movies. pluuuus, maybe we can get a movie about her backstory, where we finally have a superhero movie STARRING a lady instead of just having her as backup or a love interest. so while maybe she doesn’t deserve her own parade, this depiction may be a spring board for bigger and better things to come for all us waiting around for better superheroines.
