this has been sitting in my brain for a while so i thought i should at least doodle it down real quick even if i never get around to finishing it.
backstory: Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus was the inspiration for GLaDOS’s design and is reflected in her shape and pose in the original game.
i couldn’t remember if i ever shared this piece with tumblr or not. this was my senior self portrait from my last year at ringling and was printed along side the rest of my class’s self portraits on a poster i still have in my room at home.

i suddenly had a pressing need to design cosplayable gijinkas for the eevolutions. still working out kinks in the last four, so here’s just the first four for now!
not sure how far i’ll go into this second monster girl challenge, but here’s a water nymph or a naiad.
so i drew this quick sketch of human!glados and chell a while back and i have been trying to color it ever since, but with each try i realized it was getting worse and worse. so i started over completely! here’s the new sketch. chell is still distinctly lacking a hand and proper portal device, but their faces are much more satisfactory than they were.
also, apparently today is a day for profile views.
not sure if i’m too late for the “this is what a disney princess could look like” challenge, but thought i’d submit anyway! during this challenge, i was inspired by many of the entries, but in particular this post by nappynomad really stood out to me since she suggested being a disney queen rather than a princess. so, with her permission, i made this portrait of her as a regal queen.
yay! my submission got posted! i really meant to have this finished sooner, but i got held up on the outfit and accessories. in the end, i found myself mostly referencing this illustration of Queen Nandi of Zululand for some of the accessories, with a kind of ultra-sparkle fantasy twist?
i just realized that i’ve never seen a ninetails showgirl gijinka and it just seemed to fit so well and therefore had to be drawn. please excuse the anatomy and messiness. v__v
i downloaded some new photoshop brushes for the first time in months, and decided to absolutely abuse them coloring in this sketch from last night!

headcanon - ariel as a jamaican mermaid would’ve made much more sense.

^^^redesigning the little mermaid to take place in the caribbean is a brilliant idea! i’d have to do a lot more research on jamaican culture, but that is a really interesting concept. c:
i’m surprised to see this old pic getting so many new notes lately! maybe i should upload more of the mermaids i have floating around in my sketchbooks? X)
my sketchbooks always end up filled with doodles like this exploring different designs for characters, some of them my own, a lot of them not. so here’s a bunch of different versions of poison ivy! i really love the idea of giving parts of her bark skin with twigs growing off….
